(LOST-9FMNews) The police director of New Brunswick, New Jersey has criticized Rutgers University and blamed a concert featuring Pitbull, Yelawolf and 3OH!3 for the ensuing violence that left two people shot and others wounded.
The university hosted its annual day-long, free Rutgersfest on Friday (April 15th) in New Brunswick.
Over 50,000 people attended Rutgersfest and while Police Director Pete Mangarella admitted that none of the incidents happened on campus, he still blamed the concert for the chaos.
Mangarella told The Star-Ledger that the concert was the worst "thing of the year for the city of New Brunswick."
"It boggles the mind that a university in this day and age would sponsor an event promoting drinking to this level by underage people," Mangarella said. "The university is already in discussions with New Brunswick officials about the incidents that occurred and about what steps can be taken going forward."
The concert, which ended at 8:00PM, resulted in two shootings, five injuries and eleven arrests for disorderly conduct.
None of the people arrested were Rutgers University students.
