The 49ers (Marchitect and Jas Mace) became staples on the Japanese Hip-Hop scene after their independent releases in America led to a record deal with Goon Trax (Media Factory) in 2007.
Since their first Japanese release, The 49ers have released three full length albums (Equilibrium, State of The Art, and Ultrasound), appeared on over 40 releases, and garnered a #1 single on I-tunes for a collaboration with producer Re:plus titled “Imagine”.
“Imagine” would top the I-Tunes Hip-Hop chart in Japan for over 20 days.
The 49ers are also the only group to appear on every volume of the popular Japanese compilation series In Ya Mellow Tone, a collection that has sold over 6 million records.
Musaic is The 49ers first studio album since their recent chart success in Japan.
The rap group enlisted producers Soul Chef, Lems, Think Twice, and Hiro, all of whom are known for their individual and unique production.
The title of the album Musaic, is a play on words of "Mosaic."
As group member Marchitect said “each song was meant to stand alone on its own, but come together with the rest of the album, to form the complete musical picture.”
The first single and music
The 49ers have shared the stage with rappers like Ice-T, Wiz Khalifa, Kool Keith, Styles P, Lupe Fiasco, Common, Sean "Diddy" Combs and others.
Due to a tragic earthquake The 49ers tour with Pete Rock and Cl Smooth was postponed, but The 49ers are still determined to deliver good music to their fans who have stood by them from the beginning of their career.
