AHH Stray News: New Hip-Hop Series 'The Message'; Beastie Boys, Left Eye

(LOST-9FMp News) BET will explore the past 30-years of Hip-Hop in a new series that is slated to debut titled "The Message." BET made the announcement about the new series during its 2011 Upfront presentation at the Best Buy Theater in New York. "The Message" will be a four-part series that examines the influence that Hip-Hop music has played throughout the past three decades and its influence on popular culture. Other new shows include "Reed Between the Lines" which will star Tracee Ellis Ross and Malcolm-Jamal Warner and three new web series, "Lenox Avenue," "The Come Up" and a sci-fi thriller titled "Odessa and Asylum." The network has also announced new seasons of "The Game" and "Lets Stay Together."

The Beastie Boys have announced the TV and online premiere of their new 30-minute video, "Make Some Noise" aka "Fight For Your Right Revisited." The video is the first official single from their highly anticipated album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, which lands in stores May 3rd. The full-length, 30-minute video was directed by Beasties' own Adam "MCA" Yauch and unveils the "epic tale featuring Beastie Boys of the past, present and future." Starting today (April 20th), "Make Some Noise" aka "Fight For Your Right Revisited" will start airing on a variety of MTV Networks' channels, including MTV's MTV2, mtvU, VH1, Palladia, Comedy Central and Spike.

The Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes foundation and the Harry Fouche, the former Consul General of Haiti will host the Art for Education art show and auction to benefit the foundation. Proceeds from the charity and art show auction will go towards a scholarship fund that provides educational assistance to underprivileged youth in the Honduras and Haiti. The foundation also added an extension to their outreach program with a new group named "New Knerds," which will promote community activities, education and positive music. The Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes foundation's charity art show and auction takes place tomorrow (April 21st) at Pulse Restaurant in Rockefeller Plaza in New York.
