Jadakiss' Swaziland Concert Threatened By Anti-Government Protests

(LOST-9FM News) A show featuring Yonkers, New York rapper Jadakiss in Swaziland, South Africa, is in jeopardy of being canceled, over anti-government protests that are taking place in the tiny country.

Jadakiss was announced as the headlining act for the concert for a fundraiser for the Prince Lindani Foundations, which takes place tonight (April 23rd).

The head of the banned Swaziland Youth Congress told the AFP that they planned to protest the concert, especially after a government crackdown on April 12th that lead to the beating and tear gassing of anti-government protestors.

"It is a publicity stunt by the royal family. It is about winning the hearts and minds of the Swazi youth. Bear in mind the timing - it comes immediately after April 12th," Mxolisi Ngcamphalala of the banned Swaziland Youth Congress told AFP.

The youth organization associated with the ANC, nearby South Africa's ruling party, also called for a boycott of the country.

Swaziland's leader King Mswati III is considered to be one of the world's last official monarchs. The country has been in a state of emergency since 1973.
