Exclusive: Max B. Says He Could Be Home As Early As Summer

(LOST-9FM News) Hip-Hop star Max B. could be coming home as soon as July, if things go according to plans with the appeal of his 75-year jail sentence.

Max was sentenced to the prison sentence in June of 2009, for his alleged part in a botched robbery that lead to a homicide in a Fort Lee, New Jersey hotel.

During an exclusive interview, Max B. explained how he prepared to enter the jail system and what he might face behind the walls, while serving the 75 years.

"The appeal process is done, finally, it's been done for about a month now," Max B. revealed. "So now what they do is, the prosecutor responds back and you get a letter. They tell you, you gotta wait eight to 10 months for a response from the appellate court."

According to Max B., he is expecting the decision regarding his freedom to be made much sooner than the eight to ten months window of time that it normally takes.

"You might see me in the summer, you might see me at the end of the year," Max B. revealed. "I'm just waiting on the appellate courts. All my paperwork is done."

Prosecutors accused the rapper of plotting a botched robbery that left one man dead in September 2006.

Max B. allegedly conspired to rob two men at a Holiday Inn on Route 4 in New Jersey, because the two men were known to carry large sums of cash with them.

Things went wrong when the rapper's stepbrother Kelvin Leerdam shot and killed a man named David Taylor in the face, killing him instantly.

In June of 2009, Max B., born Charles Wingate, was convicted of felony murder, manslaughter, conspiracy to commit robbery and seven other charges for alleged his role in the shooting death of Taylor.

While Max B. said things were going as smooth as they could inside the maximum facility that's housing him, he made it clear he is anxious to resume his Hip-Hop career.

"I try not to be too popular in this joint, be real humble, stay regular. I don't want to be too exotic up in here, this aint the spot for that. My thing is coming home, back to the family, back to the people and doing what I do best on the real level. In the streets, in the town, where I need to be back in the studio, back on the road, making hits with Amalgam Digital."
