Update: Ja Rule Sentencing Pushed Back To March 9th

Former Murder Inc. rapper Ja Rule appeared in court today (February 9th), where his sentencing date for possessing a gun was pushed back until March 9th.

On March 9th, Ja Rule will be sentenced to prison for possessing a handgun in July of 2007.

Ja Rule, born Jeffrey Atkins, apppeared in court today to be sentenced, after he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in December of 2010.

In March, the rapper will learn when he must surrendered to authorities to begin serving a two-year sentence, which will sideline his career as he prepares to release his new album The Renaissance Project.

The charges stem from a July 2007 incident after a concert in New York, when police found a loaded handgun in the rear door of his Maybach.

In January, Ja, 34, said that his album The Renaissance Project, would be released before he starts his prison sentence.

"Damn, some of u act like 18 months is forever," Ja Rule tweeted shortly after learning of his prison term. "It aint Hard to tell who the snitches are!!!…Renaissance Project will be dropping before I go in."
