While there, the shock-jock managed to surprise Simmons with the diversity amongst his staff.
"Up on my way to imus in the morning. Hope we discuss book/SuperRich, empowerment and not too much politicss [sic]," Simmons tweeted today (January 14th).
Simmons was more than pleased with the result of his appearance on the show.
"Really enjoyed imus," Simmons tweeted after his appearance. "Was gracious and funny man. Lots of black producers? Nice Surprise. Nice guy."
Imus made international headlines in April of 2007, when he labeled the womens Rutgers Basketball team a bunch of "nappy-headed hoes" for losing during the Final
The comments set off a firestorm of criticism against Don
Imus, who defended his comments by noting that worse language was used by rappers, was eventually fired from CBS Radio/MSNBC over pressure from activists, who decried his comments about the women.
“Comparing Don Imus' language with Hip-Hop artists' poetic expression is misguided and inaccurate and feeds into a mindset that can be a catalyst for unwarranted, rampant censorship," Simmons snapped in 2007.
Imus came back on the air via in December of 2007, via a new deal with Cital/ABC Radio.
Since then, he has been relatively quiet and out of the headlines, since being diagnosed with prostate cancer in March of 2009.
