Natchitoches, Louisiana rapper Big Unk aka Mr. Real Estate has lawyered up to defend himself against drug charges stemming from a raid of his house, where police allegedly seized over 150 pounds of marijuana.
Mr. Real Estate, born Reggie Smith, was arrested on January 5th and charged with possession of the weed, a gun, over $500,000 in jewelry and $72,000 in cash money.
The rapper, who admitted that the jewelry and the cash were his, has hired the infamous "Thug Lawyer," Peter Q. John, to defend him against the pot possession and drug distribution charges.
According to reps, Mr. Real Estate has legitimately earned all of the possessions he has, based off of doing numerous shows and recording tracks with artists like Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Lil Boosie, Paul Wall and others.
"I expect an uphill battle," Peter John told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "My client has the right to a trial by jury which he has chosen to exercise."
Big Unk aka Mr. Real Estate is promoting his latest single "Going Duffy," the follow-up to his latest radio friendly track, "Go Hard," which features Los Angeles vocalist Jah Free.
"I am a businessman, so it's back to business as usual for me, y'all know what I mean," Mr. Real Estate told AllHipHop.com.
As for Peter Q. John, he faces his own legal troubles.
John is currently defending himself against an indictment that claims he allegedly interfered in the attempted murder investigation of two Baton Rouge executives with Trill Entertainment, who allegedly tried to kill local rapper Bruce "Beelow" Moore in July of 2005.
