I am finally getting a better picture about the life over here. Constant lack of the water, power cuts every 12 hours – that is everyday life in here. Life is hard BUT people keep smiling ALL the time.
AND IT IS HOT!!! Gosh, it is HOT in here…!! Even though there is no hot water available – the cold water is pretty lukewarm…and 10 mins after the shower you feel hot AGAIN!! It is supposed t...
o be the monsoon season… but it is not…cloudy but no rain…all dry....Everyone is waiting for the rain since June… but it has not come yet…
Have been spending these days helping at the rescue centre. Not easy to see what those animals have been gone through - abandoned, kicked, burned , beaten, chained etc. despite that – they keep trusting people but I guess they know – those people are there to help them, speak for them, defend them! And, you know, most (if not all) of them feel happy being here at the shelter and it is the quality of life that matters. They have got a space to run and play, they have got a food, they have got attention, love and cuddling. Blind, with three legs, some with serious nerve damages - shaky, wobbly, disbalanced, with broken legs (that cannot be fixed because of the age of animal), with awful skin diseases ( like mange), full of ticks and fleas BUT somehow still happy because this is their home…because they are in safe hands!
Have been walking with the dogs through the local village….yeah…if you look above you can see beautiful palm trees – with coconuts, bananas, papayas, mangos , you can see beautifully colored birds BUT if you look down – all you see is rubbish, rubbish, rubbish… People’s houses differ – from pretty posh buildings to sheds made of palm tree leafs…But I still cannot get used to the feeling that everybody( men ,women, kids, elderly) is just staring at me- whenever I go pass their house or yard – people will come out, smile, say hello and then keep on following with their look of eyes until they don’t see me anymore…Kids are asking some questions, asking to give them a school pen…( strange but sweet!)
And that language…oh dear…I cannot catch a word in their sentences…I cannot even catch the sentence (LOL)!!! But I have promised myself to learn some basic words…still got time to do that!
Went to the supermarket last night – to get some food and veggies. Bought some bananas, mangos and some other fruit which name I cannot remember…but it tasted really good – looks like little papaya. Bananas – you know, they taste different than the ones we eat – not better not worse – just different!! BUT MANGOS – OMG!!! They are just something SOOOO YUMMY…The ones we eat are definitely NOT mangos…
Having a day off tmrw…Planning to wake up early, take 2 bottles of water and go down to the beach to see the ocean, have a swim and find out what they offer for tourists…
How do I feel?...Feeling great and looking forward to the days to come…
Will talk to you later!!! xoxoxo
