Pittburgh Steelers, Quarterback Take On Hip-Hop Personas For Superbowl XLV

The Pittsburgh Steelers are utilizing one of rap's most popular groups to draw inspiration to win this year's Super Bowl this Sunday (February 6th) in Dallas, Texas.

According to the USA Today, a variety of star players on the Pittsburgh Steelers call themselves the "Young Money Family," named after Lil Wayne's popular label, which features acts like Nicki Minaj and Drake.

According to second-year wide receiver Mike Wallace, who has taken on the nickname "Fast Money." Other members, like Emmanuel Sanders, also have "money" related nicknames.

Sanders goes by the name "Easy Money," while Antonio Brown is known as "Cash Money." Steelers Wide Receiver Hines Ward is known as "Old Money" because he is in his 13th season.

Even star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a nickname - "Large Money."

"Yeah, we got a lot of money. We're Young Money (too)," Pittsburgh's Mike Wallace told The USA Today.

Tony Yayo Disses Game's 'Purp & Patron' Mixtape

 Game may be getting respect from his fans for releasing his 29-track double mixtape Purp & Patron, but the Compton, California rapper has at least one detractor.

Former G-Unit group member Tony Yayo had some harsh words for Game's Purp & Patron mixtape, which was released last Wednesday (January 24th).

While Tony Yayo didn't specifically mention Game, it was clear he was referring to Game.

"Ni**as mixtapes is trash rightnow 28 songs of bulls**t a waste of pharell beats homie lol," Tony Yayo tweeted today (January 31st).

If Tony Yayo's comments are indicative of G-Unit's over all mentality, then fans can forget about a reunion between Game and his former camp, which is at least a possibility for Game.

"It's going to have to be me and him," Game told AllHipHop.com in a recent interview about the possibility of working with 50 Cent again.

"People would think it was a hoax or one of us was messing around with the other," Game explained. "We would really have to sit down, or it's going to be nothing."

Rapper Eminem To Be Featured In Ad During Super Bowl

 Hip-Hop music continues to be the dominated genre of music for the NFL's Super Bowl XLV this year.

Superstar rapper Eminem will make a high profile appearance during an advertisement for Lipton Brisk ice tea during Super Bowl XLV.

The rapper will star as an animated claymation figure in the humorous, $1 million dollar spot, which will show viewers what a day in his life is like.

Stars like Danny Trejo, Ozzy Ozbourne and Frank Sinatra have been featured in animated as for Lipton Brisk in the past.

At halftime, rap group The Black Eyed Peas will entertain the 105,000 of people who will attend Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, Texas.

Superbowl XLV takes place on February 6th, when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on The Green Bay Packers.

Another billion are expected to watch the game across the world.

MTV To Debut Six-Part Documentary On Rapper Cory Gunz

 MTV has announced it will air a six-part documentary produced by Nick Cannon titled "Son of A Gun," which chronicles the journey of Bronx, New York rapper Cory Gunz.

"Son of A Gun" will follow Cory Gunz as he navigates through the music industry, with the help of his managers Nick Cannon and Cory's father/co-manager/Peter Gunz.

His father, Peter Gunz,  is already famous in Hip-Hop for his hit 1998 million-selling-single "Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)," with Lord Tariq.

“Cory’s story is inspiring, one that boldly paints the many trials and tribulations he’s had to endure in pursuit of his dreams.” Nick Cannon told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “I’m grateful for the access that Cory and Peter allowed us to have in order to create a series that we feel will really resonate with MTV viewers.”

Although Cory Gunz is only 23-years-old, the budding rapper has already had four record deals (Casablanca, Def Jam, After Platinum), including his latest, with Lil Wayne's Young Money imprint.

Cory Gunz landed on "6'7," the first single Lil Wayne dropped when he finished his prison sentence in November of 2010.

Bun B., E-40, Nipsey Hu$$le Added To 2011 Paid Dues Fest

 The full lineup for Murs' Paid Dues Independent Hip Hop Festival 2011 was announced today (January 31st) with the addition of rappers Bun B. E-40, Nipsey Hu$$le, Sage Francis, dead prez and others.

The new artists join a Hip-Hop heavy roster of artists that includes Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique, Asher Roth and Nottz as Rawth, Krizz Kaliko, Tabi Bonney, DJ Muggs, Sick Jacken, DJ Exile vs. Blu, Bambu and Planet Asia and others.

“It is with great pride that I announce E-40 will be headlining the ‘Dues Paid’ stage," Murs said. "As far as independent rap goes, he was the first to get his label major distribution. From Master P to El-P, he pioneered the artist/CEO business model in Hip-Hop.”

Additionally, The Black Hippy Collective, which features Jay Rock, Ab Soul, Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q will hit the stage on the West coast themed 'Dues Paid' tour.

“Individually they are a force to be reckoned with, but collectively they have to be my favorite group in the world right now," said Murs.

This year's festival, which is being in produced with Guerilla Union, will have three stages with over 40 live performances.

In addition to the main stage and the "Dues Paid" stage, there will be a "Grind Time Now" stage by the rap battle league Grind Time Now, that will incorporate rap battles.

To drum up more hype for the tour, Murs himself will embark on "The Road to Paid Dues Tour," which is a 35-date tour across the United States and Canada that will kick off on February 17th and make its final stop at the start of the Paid Dues Festival.

Sugu anayewakilisha Jimbo la Mbeya Mjini (CHADEMA) na January ambaye ni Mbunge wa Bumbuli (CCM), walitibuana Alhamisi iliyopita kwenye Jengo la Ubungo Plaza, Dar es Salaam.

Kwa mujibu wa chanzo kisicho na shaka, wawili hao walikuwa nyuzi chache kuvaana baada ya kukumbushia sakata la dili la Malaria na Sugu kumtuhumu January kwamba alimhujumu.

Chanzo chetu kilisema, January aliomba kuzungumza na Sugu lakini baada ya muda wakaanza kutupiana maneno na kusababisha watu wawazunguke kuwashangaa.

“Sugu alikuwa anazungumza na wabunge wenzake lakini January akaomba wakutane faragha,” kilisema chanzo chetu.

Kilifafanua kuwa kabla ya kuitwa na January, Sugu alikuwa anazungumza na wabunge wenzake wa tiketi ya CHADEMA, Ezekia Wenje (Nyamagana), Highness Kiwia (Ilemela), Regia Mtema (Viti Maalumu) na wengineo.

Chanzo chetu kilisema kuwa baadaye January naye alikasirika, kwa hilo alimwambia Sugu kwamba akiweza aende Kariakoo akaitishe mkutano aeleze waziwazi malalamiko dhidi yake ili kila mtu ajue.

Kilisema: “Hapo Sugu akawa mkali zaidi, alimueleza January kuwa hawezi kwenda Kariakoo, badala yake atakwenda Bumbuli kumuwashia moto.”

Chanzo chetu kiliongeza kuwa wakati ‘wakiwakiana’, hoja kuu ambayo Sugu aliijenga kwa January ni kwamba wakati akiwa Msaidizi wa Rais, alimzunguka ‘dili’ hilo la Malaria.

Kilisema, Sugu alidai kuwa January ndiye aliyegeuza programu nzima ya mkakati wa kudhibiti Malaria kwa kuitoa mikononi mwake na kumpa mtu mwingine.

KAULI YA JANUARY
Gazeti hili lilimpigia simu January juzi lakini alipopatikana alisema yupo kwenye kikao, hivyo akaomba atumiwe ujumbe mfupi wa maneno (SMS).

Alipoandikiwa SMS kuhusu tuhuma hizo, alikanusha kurushiana maneno na Sugu kwa sababu anamheshimu ukizingatia ni mwakilishi wa wananchi.

Hata hivyo, alipobanwa kuhusu ukweli wa tukio alijibu: “Kutokuelewana na kuwa na misimamo tofauti ni jambo la kawaida hasa kwa watu wa vyama tofauti.”

ALICHOSEMA SUGU
Kwa upande wa Sugu, naye alianza kukanusha lakini alipobanwa alitiririka kuwa anaamini programu ya kudhibiti Malaria iliporwa mikononi mwake, kwa hiyo hawezi kuwa rafiki na mtu aliyemhujumu.

“Yule mtu aliponiita nilidhani anataka kuniambia jinsi alivyohusika kunihujumu badala yake akataka kuniletea siasa.

“Baadaye alinitisha, nikamshangaa. Yaani mimi najua kwamba amefanya dhambi kubwa kunidhulumu halafu ananitisha wakati najua ubavu hana,” alisema Sugu.

KUHUSU SAKATA LA MALARIA
Malalamiko ya mwanzo kabisa ya Sugu ni kwamba aliandaa mradi wa kudhibiti ugonjwa wa Malaria nchini kisha akautafutia mfadhili ambaye ni taasisi ya Marekani inayoitwa Malaria No More.

Aliendelea kusema, baadaye kampuni hiyo ilifika nchini kufanya ukaguzi kabla ya kumwaga mabilioni ya mradi huo lakini mwakilishi wa Malaria No More alipokaribishwa Ikulu, Dar, haki ya kuratibu ikaondolewa kwa Sugu na kupewa mwingine.

Katika hilo, Sugu anadai fidia kwamba wakati wote wa kuandaa mradi huo mpaka kuingia makubaliano na Malaria No More, alitumia gharama nyingi, kwa hiyo anastahili kulipwa.

WIZI WATANDA TANESCO, BILIONI 1.3 ZA KWAPULIWA.....

Tuhuma dhidi ya ofisa huyo (jina linahifadhiwa kwa sasa), zimekuja wakati ambao Tanesco wanaelezwa kuwa na hali mbaya kifedha, kutokana na madai kuathirika kimapato hali inayochangiwa na hujuma zinazofanywa na watu wasiofahamika katika miundombinu yake.

Kadhalika Tanesco hivi sasa wanakabiliwa na kibarua kigumu cha kuilipa kampuni ya kufua umeme ya Dowans fidia ya Sh94 bilioni kufuatia tuzo iliyotolewa na Mahakama ya Kimtaifa ya Usuluhishi wa Kibiashara (ICC).

Tuzo hiyo kwa Dowans ambayo iko katika mchakato wa kusajiliwa Mahakama Kuu ya Tanzania ili iweze kulipwa, ilitolewa na ICC kufuatia Tanesco kuvunja mkataba baina yake na Dowans kinyume cha makubaliano ya pande hizo mbili.

Habari za zilizolifikia Mwananchi jana kutoka katika vyanzo vya kuaminika na kuthibitishwa na Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa Tanesco, William Mhando, zilisema fedha zilizoibwa na mtumishi huyo zilitokana na mauzo ya umeme wa Luku.

Habari hizo zinadai kuwa ofisa huyo ambaye ni Mhasibu Mwandamizi wa mapato ndani ya shirika hilo, anatuhumiwa kuiba fedha hizo kati ya Oktoba 2009 na 2010 katika ofisi za Tanesco mkoa wa Kinondoni Kaskazini, alikokuwa akifanyia kazi kabla ya kuhamishiwa makao makuu mwaka jana.

Akizunguma na Mwananchi kwa simu jana, Mhando alisema ofisa huyo anatuhumiwa kutenda makosa kwa kushirikiana na wafanyabiashara mbalimbali waliokuwa wakinunua umeme katika ofisi hizo.

“Ni kweli huyo mtu tunaye na anatuhumiwa kushirikiana na ma-vendor wetu (wauzaji wa rejareja). Inaonekana alikuwa akiwauzia umeme mwingi kuliko umeme aliotakiwa kuutoa kulingana na gharama walizolipia,” alisema Mhando.

Alisema suala hilo lilibainika baada ya kufanyika kwa ukaguzi wa ndani ambao uliwezesha  kugundulika upotevu wa kiasi hicho kikubwa cha pesa na kwamba baada ya kubaini tatizo hilo hatua zilizochukuliwa ni kumhamishia afisa huyo makao makuu ili kupisha uchunguzi.

“Kwa kawaida huwezi kumfukuza tu mtu kazi kienyeji, kwa hiyo kwanza “tulim-charge” tukamtaka aandike maelezo ni kwa nini asifukuzwe kazi ,” alisema Mhando.

Alisema  baada ya timu iliyoundwa kushughulikia suala hiyo kukaa na kupitia maelezo yake ilibainika kuwa afisa huyo ana hatia na kwamba hatua iliyokuliwa ni kukatisha mkataba wale wa ajira.

“Lakini kwa kuwa hizo ni pesa nyingi na ni za umma tukaona ku-terminate (kukatisha) tu mkataba wake haitoshi hivyo wakaguzi wakaamua kumfikisha polisi kwa hatua zaidi za kisheria;“Kwa hiyo baada tu ya kukatisha mkataba wake na askari wakamkamata hapohapo ofisini,” alisema Mhando.

Kwa mujibu wa habari kutoka kwa  vyanzo hivyo afisa huyo  alitiwa mbaroni Ijumaa iliyopita akiwa ofisini kwake makao makuu ya Tanesco, ambako alihamishiwa wakati uchunguzi wa tuhuma zake ukiendelea .

“Mpaka ninavyokwambia hivi sasa yuko Central (Kituo Kikuu cha Polisi jijini Dar es Salaam), kilidokeza chanzo chetu na kuongeza kuwa huenda leo ofisa huyo akapandishwa kizimbani kwa tuhuma hizo tuhuma hizo zinazomkabili,".

Hata hivyo kwa mujibu wa habari kutoka katika vyanzo vyetu wafanyabiashara hao bado hawajakamatwa na kwamba bado jeshi la Polisi linaendelea kuwasaka ili kuwaunganisha katika tuhuma hizo.

Hip-Hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc has been released from a medical facility, but remains in need of financial aid to help with an unknown health condition.

"I just spoke to Kool Herc.he’s ok and in good spirits..but needs surgery..THIS TUESDAY at SUTRA..we’re gonna do a collection for him," DJ Tony Touch tweeted earlier today.

According to Gangstarr's DJ Premier, Kool Herc's health is deteriorating and he is in need of monetary assistance, because he doesn't have health insurance.

"Kool Herc is very sick," DJ Premier revealed on his XM Satellite radio show Live From Headqcourterz. "For those that know about Hip-Hop, who we call the father of Hip-Hop, Kool Herc, is not doing well. It's funny how we have a father of a culture that still lives, where as in some cultures they are dead and gone even though they may still be worshiped or reflected on in some kind of way."

According to DJ Premier, he spoke to Herc, who revealed that he was in need of financial assistance because he didn't have medical coverage.

Kool Herc, 55, is recognized by music historians as the Founding Father of Hip-Hop for his style of "Break" DJ'ing, which isolates the rhythm of a particular portion of a record.

He is credited for laying the foundation for the most popular genre of music in the world, after a party he hosted at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, in the South Bronx.

DJ Kool Herc is also a community activist who led a multi-year effort to prevent the sale of 1520 Sedgwick to greedy real estate speculators.

In September of 2010, the building received a $5.6 million dollar federal loan that halted the sale of the building, allowing hundreds of tenants to keep their homes.

Additionally, the  building has officially been recognized as the place Hip-Hop music during the party, which took place on August 11th, 1973.

RZA Threatens To Sue Game

The RZA of The Wu Tang Clan had hit rapper Game with a cease and desist over a song with the looming threat of a lawsuit.

The conflict arose after The Rza produced a song, "Heartbreaker" for Game's anticipated R.E.D. Album, but when the sample was un-clearable, it was used for the recently released "Purp & Patron" double mixtape. That apparently raised the ire of The RZA.

"I think RZA [is] tryin' to sue about ['Heartbreaker'] or somethin'," Game told hiphopdx.com. "That's f**kin' crazy. Like, I don't even know how RZA sues The Game. He came to the studio and brought the ['Heartbreaker'] track to me. He's like, 'Yo Game, this is for you. You can have that.' Those are his words." Game also maintains that RZA's company on that day, Rev. Burke, was invited to rhyme on the record. "His boy spit crazy. I [rapped after] him."

Game said that the cease and desist declaration confused him after they connected on the creation of the piece.

"So I threw it out [on a mixtape]. The next thing I know RZA is suing The Game. That shit's crazy. I didn't even know Wu-Tang sued ni**as."

There is no beef, Game said and proclaimed that he maintains his respect and relationships within the Wu-Tang ranks.

"I still got nothin' but respect for RZA [and] the whole Wu, and all of that. I'm good. I'm good friends with Ghostface [Killah] and [Raekwon] and Method [Man]. Those are my dudes. I would never speak down on RZA or any of those dudes for that matter - not that any of those dudes [have anything] to do with this conversation," Game continued. "But with the Wu, you gotta speak to a pack. It's all love."

Whether or not the case will actually go to court remains unclear.

Rapper Trina To Be Honored In Jamaica

Miami, Florida rapper Trina will be honored in Kingston, Jamaica during the 7th Annual Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) this coming March.

EME Awards Founder and Chairman Richard "Richie B" Burgess said Trina will be the 2011 "International Friend of Reggae Honoree"  honored for her collaborations with various Jamaican acts like Queen Lady Saw, Sean Kingston, Barbee and others.

“Some of the icons of our rich musical heritage as well as the hottest newcomers around will receive the recognition they so rightfully deserve, for providing us with wonderful musical gems throughout their careers”, Burgess said in a statement.

Past artists who have received the award include Missy Elliott, Akon, Estelle, John Legend, India.Arie and others.

In addition to Trina, over 30 of Jamaica's top artists will be honored during the EME Awards, with popular acts vying for awards in categories like the Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Vocalist of the Year.

The 2011 EME Awards will take place at The East Lawn of Devon House in Kingston on March 12th.

50 Tells Ciara To 'Cut It Out' As Twitter Feud Heats Up

 50 Cent and R&B singer Ciara confronted one another via Twitter earlier today, after the pair sent a series of subliminal tweets to each other last week.

The shenanigans started on Wednesday (January 26th), when 50 Cent tweeted a picture of himself with Hugh Hefner, at The Playboy Mansion.

The problems with Ciara began when she replied to one of 50 Cent's many wild tweets, that jokingly labeled all 3,932,409 on his Twitter timeline a "b***h."

Ciara didn't take kindly to the comments and shot back “The things people tweet say a lot about their character, pay attention!”

50 immediately replied with an insult toward his former flame, telling her: “Yea I tweet things that reflect my character b*tch. I have a sense of humor get one (lol). That’s why you’re 3 mill followers behind me."

The back-and-forth got more intense last night, when Ciara tweeted 50 Cent directly. "Who you callin' a b**ch" Ciara asked, while providing a link to Queen Latifah's classic 1993 song "U.N.I.T.Y.," which blasts men for calling women "b**ches."

"Now I'm not going back n forth with you on twitter now cut it out," 50 Cent tweeted in response.

Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, told the judge that his client had completed his 52-week domestic violence counseling and asked that she remove the existing restraining order against Brown, reports RadarOnline.com.
“It makes it difficult at award shows and such,” said Geragos.
Before the request can be granted, Rihanna’s attorney must approve of the modification from a “stay away” order to a “do not annoy.” Brown is scheduled to remain on probation until 2014.

Grammy Award winning producer Jermaine Dupri officially launched his Global 14 Social networking community today (January 27th), which the mogul aims to make the "coolest, hippest city" on the Internet.

JD said he launched the new website to take advantage of what Dupri labeled 'social notifying,' where people share bits of information with one another, as opposed to detailed information in traditional social networking.

While some may be surprised that the hit making producer has launched an Internet venture, Jermaine Dupri told AllHipHop.com that he has had his eyes on the Internet since he was President of Urban Music at Virgin Records, where he oversaw Janet Jackson's album 20 Y.O.

He also discovered has latest artist Dondria via YouTube.com.

"I created a contest for Janet's album where I went to the Internet and asked fans to create an album cover for her," Jermaine Dupri told AllHipHop.com. "That was the beginning of me engaging people on the Internet. It was overwhelming and it was the most records she ever sold in her first week. That let me know the people wanted to be involved."

The site is off to a running start, having secured over 10,650 subscribers in less than three months, receives almost 100,000 unique visitors per month and has already attracted celebrities like Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Nelly, Bow Wow, Monica, Kelly Rowland, Anthony Hamilton, Kevin Hart and others.

"People want to have a place where they feel like it's a cool place and cool spot to be out as well as have conversation and really talk to each other. It took me almost five years for it to get where I am at now."

Jermaine Dupri said the main difference between his social networking community and others, like Twitter and Facebook is his own celebrity status.

"None of those have an owner that you actually know and feel like you have something in common. People only know the Facebook owner [Mark Zuckerberg] now because of his money. You wouldn't have hung out with him before you knew what he did. I have an influence on producers, songwriters, artists and creative people in general."

"Its got the heartbeat of a musician but its a social networking site," Jermaine Dupri said. "I believe that if you don't own your own content in the next two years, they will all be out of business. This is just me controlling my own content, because I am content creator. If you need a platform to put your creative content out, that is what this is."

According to JD, he hopes to show young America that "we can use computers for more than just watching crazy videos, posting pictures and reading about celebrities.”

Bruno Mars Gets Community Service For Cocaine Charge

Chart-topping artist Bruno Mars will be sentenced to probation and attend drug counseling as part of a guilty plea, stemming from an arrest in Las Vegas for possession of cocaine.

The 25-year-old singer, born Peter Hernandez, was arrested in September of 2010, when a bathroom attendant at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel saw him in a stall with a bag of white powder.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Bruno Mars will plead guilty to possessing cocaine. As a result, the singer will serve a year of probation, pay a $2,000 fine, perform 200 hours of community service and attend drug counseling.

If Bruno Mars completes his probation without any issues, he will be able to withdraw his guilty plea and the case will be dismissed, since it was his first possession charge.

The singer, who was featured on B.o.B.'s Grammy Award winning hit single "Nothin' On You" and Travie McCoy's smash single, "Billionaire," is currently at the top of Billboard's Single's chart.

This week, his latest song "Grenade" booted Britney Spears' song "Hold It Against Me" from the #1 spot, making it the second time the single has occupied the position.

Bruno Mars is also nominated for seven Grammy's this year for this hit single "Just the Way You Are." He also co-wrote Cee Lo's hit single "F**k You."
